How My KonMari Journey Changed My Life!

When I called Amanda, I was living alone after losing my dear husband two years before. The previous years of my life were devoted to caring, then experiencing great loss and grief.

I had reached late mid life and had increased by two dress sizes and accumulated clothing in a variety of sizes. We had accumulated many things over the decades.

I was feeling the need to simplify my home in all areas, scale down and ‘let go’ a few things. It felt like a daunting task to begin alone.

Upon first meeting Amanda, with her calm presence and compassionate nature, I began learning the principles of the Marie Kondo tidying method. I realised the process is so much more than just letting go of some ‘stuff’ and getting organised or minimising.

The process offered me a new perspective on how I viewed my belongings. My home began reflecting and supporting what I love about life.

This is going to look different for every individual.

It has cleared out those items I didn’t need and brought me closer to the things that spark joy in mind, body and soul.

It’s an amazing, life changing way to look at your home, your sanctuary.

Before the KonMari tidying process I had a few pipe dreams…

After the KonMari tidying process, I created small zones in my home so I have somewhere for specific activities that bring me joy. These joys have become a reality in my life. Easily accessible and dedicated zones to realise my dreams.

The way I store items in every drawer and cupboard or wardrobe has changed, creating easy access to all items. No more rummaging through, trying to find something! It upends what we have been doing all our lives! So simple and this creates an easy flow to my day. It really is magic!

Amanda was so kind and supportive when looking at sentimental items and how to honour those.

With the new shifts in how I think and feel about what is joyful to include in my living environment, I naturally edit what comes into my home. Occassionally, I do a quick review and gift or recycle unwanted items.

The principles I have learned, stay with me and I’m very appreciative of having the opportunity to do the process with Amanda.
